Tomatoes talk, birch trees learn?

We have tomato plants in our Muddy Boots greenhouse and trees and birds in the garden. Who knew they were so talkative?

In the short film below from a TEDxZURICH session, chemist and biologist Florianne Koechlin tells us about the complex web of communication between plants and the mechanisms by which they respond to their external world..

With themselves and other living things on our wonderfully rich and diverse planet.

I recently found myself taking some photographs for our web pages in the Muddy Boots greenhouse. As the camera was whirring away I was talkng to the plants and gently re-arranging a leaf here, a leaf there.

I knew they were listening.
